- The Maine Softball team split a double header in Orono with Hartford, losing the opener 2 - 1 and winning the nightcap 3 - 0.

- The Boston Bruins manhandled the Montreal Canadiens Saturday night 5 - 1. Marc Savard scored 2 power play goals to pace the Bruins offense.
- Bruins player Matt Hunwick had his spleen removed after leaving practice in an ambulence today.
- The Boston Celtics were stunned by the Chicago Bulls 105 - 103 in overtime at the TD Banknorth Garden. Paul Pierce missed a crutial free throw at the end of regulation and Derrick rose scored 36 points in the Bulls win.
- The Boston Red Sox held on to beat the Baltimore Orioles 8 - 6.
- The NFL announced the suspension of former Maine Black Bear Football player Daren Stone for 4 games. Reason undisclosed.
