After sitting on this for a couple of days, we can finally say something. The CMSB, following up on a cryptic comment that said the announcement will have “An Irish Air” to it, learned and confirmed from independent sources in and close to both the Boston Celtics and Charlotte Bobcats organizations last week that they will be the two affiliates of Maine’s new NBA D-League team, the Red Claws.
Although the Celtics affiliation was one of the "Worst-kept secrets in history", the Charlotte affiliation caught everyone by surprise.
Maine Red Claws GM Jon Jennings and Team President Bill Ryan made the official announcement on The Big Jab this morning, the audio is below. There will also be an announcement celebration in Monument Square at Noon today, emceed by Red Claws' play-by-play man Chris Sedenka.
