The Maine Red Claws (19-11) fell to the Austin Toros (19-10) by a score of 98-86 on Wednesday night at the soldout Portland Expo.
The Toros were led by Malik Hairston who scored a game-high 29 points and grabbed nine boards. Teammate Dwayne Jones recorded a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds while Alonzo Gee poured in 18 points in the win.
Down by a score of 66-63 with just over two minutes remaining in the third quarter, the Toros came roaring back by going on an 18-2 run carrying four minutes into the fourth to take a 81-68 advantage.
The Red Claws, who were wearing the jerseys of their NBA affiliate Charlotte Bobcats, had six different players scoring in double figures. Recently acquired Maurice Ager led the team with 22 points in his first home game with the team while Noel Felix added a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Teammate Tony Bobbitt contributed with 13 points while Darnell Lazare and Trey Gilder each scored 12.
This marked the last game for either team before this weekend’s NBA D-League All-Star break where Trey Gilder and Alexis Ajinca were named to the 2010 All-Star squad for the Red Claws. Curtis Jerrells, Dwayne Jones and Alonzo Gee will represent Austin in Dallas.
