Class A Football Regional Finals Previews

Finally, we get to the Class A Regional previews. Lewiston travels to Bangor, and Deering heads to Cheverus (which you can listen to right here tomorrow at 12:30).

Eastern Class A

#4 Lewiston at #2 Bangor

Tonight at 7 PM

The long-time rivals square off tonight in Bangor, as the Rams look to get back to Fitzpatrick Stadium and finish the job this time, and Lewiston looking to be the Cinderella of the Maine State Championship ball. Bangor is led by senior quarterback Joe Seccareccia and senior tailback Josiah Hartley. Lewiston's offense is spear-headed by tailbacks Jeff Turcotte and Jeff Keene, and fullback Joe McKinnon.

It's a battle of the size of Bangor and the speed of Lewiston. Can the Blue Devils spring the upset, or can the Rams make it back to Portland?

Western Class A
#3 Deering at #1 Cheverus

Saturday at 12:30 (online here on the Maine Sports Network)

3 weeks ago, Deering went to Cheverus and went home with their butts in their hands. They have to chance to avenge that loss this week, and to do it, quarterback, punter, and kicker Jamie Ross is going to need to have the game of his life, and he'll have to get help from J.J. Hardy, the returning Trey Thomes, and Renaldo Lowry. The defense, which has played well since the Cheverus game, needs to continue to play well.

Chaverus has a three-headed monster in quarterback Peter Gwilym, sure-handed tailback Spencer Cooke, and fullback Evan Jendrasko. They are big, physical, and have a chip on their shoulder, and have been on a mission ever since losing to Windham in the Western Maine Final last season. Head coach John Wolfgram has been here plenty of times before, and will have his Stags ready.

Can the Rams avenge their loss to Cheverus one week after avenging a loss to Bonny Eagle, or is Cheverus just too good to be contained?
